Ladies, Gents and Minions,
It seems that we have been quite busy during this hot and very sticky summer of 2012. Outings – be they voluntary, involuntary – they’ve just sprinkling the media landscape with girl-on-girl, woman-on-woman – action, love, lust call it whatever you like – like fairy dust. And it’s happening all over, to the young and not as young, not just in that stereotypical Hollywood setting either. And the Passions can’t help but to be obsessed by all the attention it’s getting. Yes, everybody, it’s a beautiful thing – chocolate lesbian love in full bloom. Like Stevie Wonder said, we making it “hotter than the 4th of July,” up in this piece. Better recognize ;).
So here we go!
First up: DISNEY.
Raven Symone.
Many of us watched her grow-up (quite nicely) before our very eyes.
The Cosby Show/Disney Starlette set things off the early part of this summer when rumors began to swirl around her alleged relationship with (America’s TOP) model Az Marie Livingston. These two set tongues a wagging with their not so subtle association. Raven’s subliminal tweets certainly helped to fuel an already raging fire.
Well here’s the infamous, not-so-subliminal pic of them that was circulating. Ain’t a thang discreet about that photo. In fact, Raven’s facial expression says it all, doesn’t it :).
Needless to say, somebody has great taste in women ;).
Next: Hollyhood.
As most of us know, summer means GAY PRIDE celebrations. And Passions favorite Dana Owens, a.k.a. Queen Latifah represented. We swear every year there is a Latifah is “coming out” story. It NEVER fails and it NEVER seems to materialize. But, we’re okay with that. She doesn’t have to come out officially. Because, we here at the Passions loves the way La rolls. Do you, Queen.
During the Pride celebration in mid-May in Long Beach, Cali, the Queen performed hits “U.N.I.T.Y” and “Ladies First,” to an enthusiastic crowd of over 100,000 indicating she was proud to be among “her people.” Whether or not this is a declaration, the Passions can’t say. We just think some things speak for themselves and we’ll leave it at that.
Next: Religion.
Yes, Lord we’re going to church. The BLACK church. Anybody remember Pentecostal Prophetess and Televangelist Juanita Bynum?
She’s the chocolate cutie who was brutally beaten by then (second) husband, Bishop Thomas Wesley Weeks back in 2007. We didn’t know she was also a victim of domestic violence in her first marriage back in the eighties. Now, those are some ugly and unfortunate details.
Would you like some “prettier details?” Well, late this week Bynum came out swinging by admitting to having same-sex relations. In other words, to quote Bynum she says she’s “been with women.” Whew, that’s a HELL of a confession, excuse my French. Now, where that gay church at again?
Next up: Politics.
Who knew Florida had a black, female, Republican Lieutenant Governor? The Passions didn’t know. That shit was seriously “hushed,” wasn’t it? Well, meet Jennifer Carroll.
Now, I want all of you Passion followers to dig deep on this one. Does she look like a lesbian to you? Well she doesn’t think so but more on that later. So the story goes, apparently an ex-aid of the Lt. Governor, one Carletha Cole was arrested after she illegally taped conversations Carroll’s staff had with some reporter. Not cool, right? Well, Cole could get five years for her trouble. But this is where it gets interesting. Apparently Cole was fired after she caught her boss, the Lt. Governor in a compromising position with Carroll’s travel aide one Beatriz Ramos. Yes, chile.
Wanna see a pic of Ramos? Well, look below, there she is, kind of smirking, behind the Lt. Governor.
Now of course, the Passions wasn’t satisfied with the “compromising position” accusation. We wanted the real dirt. We wanted the juicy DETAILS. And did we ever find it, and quote –
(Cole) walked into the Lt. Governors Jennifer Carroll’s office and observed the Lt. Governor sitting at her desk with her foot up on the cadenza and her skirt hiked up. Beatrice Ramos was kneeling in front of Carroll, poised as if she (Ramos) was about to or had performed oral sex on the Lt. Governor.
Nothing like some tasty, sweet tea on a wet, hot Friday afternoon. Thirst quenching, isn’t it? So, back to that delicious quote earlier, Honeys – this is what Carroll had to say about the whole thing.
“The problem is that when you have these accusations that come out, it’s not just one person you’re attacking. It’s an entire family. My husband doesn’t want to hear that. He knows the type of woman I am. I mean, my kids know the type of woman I am. For twenty-nine years – I’m the one that’s married for twenty-nine years. The accuser is the one that’s been single for a long time. So usually black women that look like me don’t engage in relationships like that.“ Oh REALLY??? Thou doth protest too much??? With her leg up getting serviced by her aide – me thinks that must have looked hella hot!!! So the answer is Yes, Lt. Governor, women who look like you, black women, actually love getting fucked by other women and actively engage in relationships like that. You have validated it for the entire universe and we thank you for it. And, speaking about somebody’s cunt getting eaten…
Next: Hip-Hop.
Azealia Banks.
If you haven’t already, remember you heard about her here first. Now the Passions fucks with hip-hop every now and then. And when I heard “212” by young, new and very female friendly Azealia Banks, well, I made a bit of a return to the musical art form. Why? With lyrics like hers? Why not?

Yes, she did.
In an interview for the New York Times, it states clearly, “Ms. Banks considers herself bisexual, but, she said: ‘I’m not trying to be, like, the bisexual, lesbian rapper. I don’t live on other people’s terms.'” We like that kind of independence, especially coming from a generation that boldly and intentionally defies labels while embracing their sexuality (ambiguously and otherwise) so that closets can remain what they were meant for – clothes, Honey.
